Totara Fun Day

Today was a great day, by far my favourite part of this Term. Firstly we stopped by the waffles and candy canes, but the line was so long we had to side track. So me and my buddy Vanessa went to room 3 to make Candy Cane mice.

For Candy Cane mice we cut out the paper template for the mice. Then we cut the felt according to the template. After that we hot glue them together, and then we stabbed a candy cane through it.

After that, we had a bit of a stretch, me and Vanessa went to the courts to do sports with Mr Fisher. I put Vanessa on a plastic square skate board and grabbed her legs. From then we had races where I would pull Vanessa by the legs.

Athletics Training

Before Athletics we had Athletics Training so we could practice out skills.In the photo you can see me trying out high jump, the tips Mrs. Nelson told us was to run in a J shape, run slow at the start then sprint when you get close. And when you jump you have to do '' Scissor Legs '' and flail your arms up. This helps you jump higher.

The next activity was sprinting with Mrs. Owen/ Mrs. D, we practised by limiting ourselves for example we ran while having our arms folded because we usually swing while we're running to gain
momentum.They also taught us to lean forward or be on an angle to run faster, but if you lean forward too much, you'll fall on your face. Another thing they taught us is how to start, most professional runners start out with their knee on the ground

I want to work on decimals,because I don't know what decimals are.

STEAM Extravaganza

On Tuesday,we had rotations also known as the STEAM Extravaganza.I picked Breakout EDU,Breakout EDU is a sort of breakout game where you have a certain amount of clues scattered around the room.You get one starting hint,You need to follow the hints until you end up to where the key is.And when you open the box you win...well most of the time...

The Breakout EDU was being held at room 12,It was ran by Leah and Imogen. We all sat down on the mat and waited as they explained the game to us.As usual we settled on Boys Vs Girls because kids like to be like that these days,We were split into groups of 12 and we started...


Vanessa was our Team Captain,So she had the starting hint.She swiftly turned it over `` Go to the red letters on the door `` So we all rushed over all 24 of us to the door it was cramped everybody was shouting.

It's very hard to remember all the other hints,We were all in a rush.Finally we were on our final hint``Big Medium Small`` Suddenly Vanessa lunged into three boxes we were all confused...until,we noticed there in her hand...THE KEY!

We were all at static,All the girls were SCREAMING,we opened the the box...There was a letter,it read `` We almost ESCAPED `` There was another box inside,WITH SIX PADLOCKS.

Hei Tiki Museum Trip

On the 26th of June,We went to the Museum. . . We'll the Tea House near the Museum.The Museum is still being fixed.Moving on,at the Museum we learned about the Maori culture,more so the Hei Tiki.

Firstly we hopped on the Tardis from Doctor Who and travelled back in time where people first wore the Hei Tiki. And we progressed to how it's being used for advertising and logos. 

And we even got to touch a real TIKI! Of course we had to wear gloves and my hands got really sweaty and gross... but it was still great!It was really fascinating to actually hold a real Tiki. 

Lastly,We got to make our own Tikis,Firstly we picked out buttons for the eyes.I chose Purple and Teal buttons to sew on for the eyes.Next we picked our felts I picked this dark navy blue like the depths of the ocean,White felt to balance out the darkness,Bright green for the mouth and hands to add a pop of colour,And a mango yellow for the mouth.Using the rest of the white a made the limbs. :)

The Wiggles

Yesterday,for writing we had to adapt a board game .Our group adapted the game called " Uncle Wiggily '' ,We used the actual box of the game for reference.We had the idea of combining two shoe boxes to make the overall base of the board game.We used a box cutter to cut the front of the box and flatten them,after cutting we glued them together.My other partners painted a big piece of paper yellow,while I create/draw the Villains  and power-ups.While I write down the backstory,my partners coloured in the characters.Soon we draw the path on the board game and add the characters and their perks.Soon the game is DONE!

Bikewise

Bikewise is an organisation that teaches kids about bike safety,The organisation visited our school on Monday.Firstly they taught us how to put  on our helmets properly,You must check for cracks in your helmet next the straps go right under your ears.You have to tighten the helmet and make sure that the helmet is by eyebrow level.The straps under your chin can't go above your chin,because if it does the helmet isn't secure.

Secondly,they thought us about our bikes.And how we must check our bikes before we hop on,we have 5 things to check for Quick release,Breaks,Secure handle bars,Wheel pressure and seat hight.

The quick release is the little clip behind your wheel should be close or else the wheel will just  slide off.Next we have the breaks if the breaks aren't working then things can get a little messy...3rd we have the handle bars if the bars aren't straight you don't have any control.4th we have wheel pressure if your wheels are flat its bad for your wheels.Seat hight if your seat is too low your legs might drag on the ground and if its too high you might not be able to pedal.

In my opinion this lesson was really helpful.

  

Jelly Maths

During this week we made jelly,We did this for our maths and golden time.We had a choice of 4 flavours,We got to pick how much we could put in. For the 1st day we added 40 mls next we added 30 mls then 40 mls again...And to top it all off we added 50 mls.

The flavours were Strawberry ( Red ) Yellow ( Pineapple ) Green ( Green apple / Lime ) and lastly Orange ( Mandarin / Orange ).We had to measure how much jelly we were going to add in by using water.So we can see how much jelly we could put in. When you fill the jelly all the way to the brim it would be 200 mls.

Firstly our teacher explained to us how we could use water to see how much we could fill in. We had to mark how much was in the cup when we filled to the brim.As already noted it was 200 mls. We had to kneel down and place the cups onto the table to get the proper measuring.

Iv'e learned how to properly measure mls and more! It was a fun way to learn it too. Because after,you could spoil yourself with some jelly!

Food Science

Sky Tower in Minecraft

Me and my Ysabella built the Sky Tower... well she did most of the work I just added some details.

I couldn't get on the mac book so she started with the base,She built the base,the elevator and the sky jump.I added the grey parts of the sky tower and I added the sky walk I added railings too,and I added some signs.

Ysabella chose the Sky Tower because if she tried to make a zoo it wouldn't have any animals.So she she chose this,Plus its easier to remember and create.

The Resurrection

We had to recreate Jesus' tomb for a project. It was very fun...But a little bit messy.We made this for Easter and we created this to celebrate the day that Jesus rose from the dead,Also known as the

Resurrection.

Speaking of the Resurrection,Let me explain what happened on that day. On the third day of Jesus' death Mary and some other women went to Jesus' tomb to pray and mourn over Jesus' death.Suddenly they noticed the giant heavy rock that covered the entrance of the tomb was rolled to the side.Mary and the other women looked inside but saw nothing but his burial clothes.Soon after an angel appeared and said " Why are you looking for him? he has risen ".They ran back to their town to tell the other disciples,They ran to the tomb but one of them ran faster.Once they arrived they looked inside and they saw nothing other than his burial clothes.Then Jesus appeared out off no where and said "Why are you looking for me? for I have risen from the dead ".

Swimming Sports

This years Swimming Sports was awesome!It was really fun.It was great exercise,The competitions were challenging but fun.

My favourite part was the fun games,What I mean by " fun games " are the games where you go rafting,boat pulling and noodle soup.Unlike the competitions these games are team work based games!It was fun being able to play with my other friends in my house group.

Going back into the competitions,I didn't really like them,I'm not that confident in my swimming,But that's only for the full length races,I prefer the width races,Its shorter and easier.I tried to do a full length freestyle race and I came third to last! I was really surprised I thought I would be last but I didn't!I was really proud of my accomplishment,I'm planning to improve in my swimming and get better.Overall,Swimming Sports was great! Its might be tiring and all but,i'm glad I came instead of sleeping in.

My Times Tables

These are my times tables,The circled numbers are the times tables I don't really know.
I think that I need to work on my 8,9,7,6,12,11 Times tables, I struggle at the bigger numbers.
I really want to improve in my maths.

Children's Day Artwork

This is my piece of artwork I made this for children's day,my favourite part of it is the small flower I made with the leaves.Speaking of leaves let me tell you how I made this piece of art.

Firstly I made the background,Using green dye I dabbed the cloth carefully,Once the cloth absorbs the dye it will turn into a mini cross,I found this really fascinating.Then I just repeated the process until the whole cloth was covered. 

Secondly and lastly,I used leaves to print a pattern,I painted the leaves with the colour I liked and placed it down,Next I placed a napkin above the leaf and I pressed down,After that I pulled away the napkin and the leaf,And then there would be a pattern!

It was really fun making this and I would totally do it again.

Ash Wednesday

We recently had Ash Wednesday,Ash Wednesday is the day we make our Lenten promises and get an ash cross on our fore heads. Honestly I didn't know why we got the ashes, until I learned what was in the ash.Inside the ash was the palms from palm Sunday and our promises. I thought that we had the ashes on our fore heads to remind us of our promises. But the ashes was actually to remind us of Jesus' death.And to remind us that our life on earth is short, Its actually kinda sad but it is the truth.

All About Me Bag

This is my all about me bag,Inside is all the things that are important to me. The video game controller is there because I love gaming! Its very entertaining and fun.Secondly we have my award,I'm very active...Well most of the time,I spend most of my time indoors but I still love sports. The third item is my tough guy tough girl challenge medal,The reason why its there is because i'm very messy VERY messy.Lastly we have the sharpie its might be hard to see in the photo but its somewhere there,Moving on...As you can see my bag is very decorated that's because I LOVE and I mean it I LOVE drawing!,I mean... who doesn't?
